From 2012 to 2017, Social Sushi brought people together through pop-ups, classes, and shared experiences across Detroit. Different backgrounds. Different ambitions. A place to find something in common.
SushiRitas carries that energy into a restaurant built for everyday lunch breaks, easy evenings, and another round with your favorite people. Midtown’s artists, businesses, and cultural spaces have been creating reasons to gather long before us. We’re here to contribute to that rhythm, amplify our neighbors, and help more people discover what’s happening across Detroit’s neighborhoods, well beyond Midtown and downtown.

into Lessons.
The path here wasn’t straight. Ideas changed. Plans stalled. Some doors never opened. But the relationships kept growing, and so did the lessons.
Through creative projects, youth work, and shared tables, we’ve found our people in those who lift others as they grow. Supporting the people around us who live that #BetterTogether spirit has always been part of the work. The lessons, resources, and relationships mean more when we put them to use for one another.
Jay and Sareta are building SushiRitas around that truth. Food brings people through the door. Care, culture, and connection give them a reason to return.
